Sophisticated data analysis and interpretation is essential to Samskip’s Sales team as we identify opportunities to further optimise and expand our transportation business. It demands an ability to handle data, an understanding of social media, and a can-do approach in terms of approaching potential customers and responding to quote requests. Powerful analysis for essential Sales support

Your core task in this role is to support the Sales team by analysing customer performance and external data. Equipped with this analysis you highlight opportunities for improvement and growth so that we better manage and grow our portfolio of new and existing customers. You then act on these initiatives by performing tasks that include:

  • Approaching new potential customers to generate new business;
  • Preparing customer quotes;
  • Maintaining and managing the Samskip social media presence;
  • Problem solving and resolution.

Every day is different and there are no fixed ways of operating in this ever-changing commercial environment. Results are everything and you will need the flexibility to reprioritise as the day develops. As you learn the business you will be given more and more scope to take decisions yourself.

As such, you should be an inquisitive self-starter who can work with an entrepreneurial Sales team to enter new market spaces based on your powers of data acquisition and analysis. There will be occasional travel as required within the UK and to our company HQ in Rotterdam. It may be possible to work from home some of the time.

Flexibility and creativity

Ideally, you have at least three years of experience in the logistics industry or in a role that combines data interpretation and the translation of that into sales action. But we know that you can ‘learn’ the industry, so more important is your ability to bring a unique and even creative approach to the challenge of providing data analysis that leads to business generation.

That includes the flexibility to adjust and react to external factors and communicate with colleagues and customers by sharing knowledge in the right way. Above all, it demands a desire to succeed and win, and to commit to a company that can help you to grow your career. The formal requirements are:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent through experience;
  • Computer literate with regard to Microsoft suite (Excel, Powerpoint, Word etc);
  • Social media aware and savvy;
  • Business generation skills including cold calling;
  • Fluent written and spoken English, with any other language(s) an advantage.
