Working in Finance – Accounting, controlling and consulting
Story by Christian Kluvetasch – Financial Analyst – Bremen office

Working for a multinational company with a casual and familiar atmosphere. Samskip thinks big and dreams even bigger, but without losing the personal touch.

My background story
I am 37 years old, married and a father of a wonderful daughter. I have studied business economics and before I joined Samskip, I worked for a container trading company as a Financial Manager for over 10 years. I have been working as a Financial Analyst/Manager at Samskip since 2017.
Samskip is a big player in the logistics market: they offer different solutions to their customers. I decided to change my work life in 2017, because I was interested in Samskip’s product. I wanted to improve my knowledge and get new challenges.

Working as a Financial Analyst and Manager
Finance is a varied area and my job can be divided into three different expertise areas: Accounting, Controlling and Consulting. I am responsible for the budget and the monthly and annual closing, and I have to prepare the required internal and external reports. I work closely together with the General Manager Freight Forwarding, who I give financial advice and inform about the results as well as about deflecting measures to improve the situation. I love being a sparring partner for the Managing Director and the General Manager Freight Forwarding.
I am also in control of the operational and financial controlling and I am the first point of contact for auditors, tax auditors and bank institutes.

Improve. Adjust. Optimise.
I always try to improve the periodic and manual tasks to make the work more efficient for the finance team and to improve the teamwork between the Operational department and the Finance department. I already made a lot of changes for improvement but there is always more to improve. I am facing new challenges every day, which ensures my workdays are never boring. There is never a dull moment and I am sure there never will be.

Despite the fact that that Samskip is a big international player, working at Samskip feels familiar. The people in Samskip are open-minded and easy to talk to. I am able to communicate and negotiate with all of them in person. It is that feeling of togetherness that makes us want to do a great job and gives me the drive to achieve our goals together.
